9:40AM Breakfast was delicious! Lots of bread, cheese, eggs, fruit and coffee!
10:00AM We dropped off laundry to the laundromat or more like dry cleaning. It cost about $R 38 for 16 items. Which is about $19 US -.- Very expensive... I would rather wash my clothes, but with the weather it's hard to dry clothes. I didn't really factor the rain into washing my own clothes idea... I wish I brought more clothes. I literally stink. Since Sam and I didn't really want to spend that much money we split the cost, I ended up having more large items so I paid $R 25. She said we could pick it up the best day around 5PM.
10:30AM Sam and I decided to wall to the Barra where all the beaches are. It was about a 2 hour walk in total next to the beach. It was a sunny day, so I got a tan. I forgot to put on sunscreen so it wasn't the best idea. We stopped at an Urban Art shop on our way to the beach. We met a really cool guy named Bruno who worked there. He spoke to us in Spanish so it was really nice to talk to him about Bahia.
2:00PM We arrived at the beach and got pretty hungry. There was a cool restaurant called crab something... We had some moqueca! It was amazing. We also shared a shrimp dish with these yummy breaded bananas. Overall a delicious meal!
3:00PM After lunch we went to the beach. I fell asleep. Jeans in the sand are the business. I'm not a big fan of the beach. I like to listen to the ocean minus the sand and the water.... Lol.
4:00PM We then walked to a Farro (lighthouse). We wanted to take photos with the Salvador sign, but then were bombarded by street vendors selling necklaces. I was not a fan of the aggressive sales pitch. They turned to be really nice, but I literally only had $R 2 in my bag or $1 US. So they didn't get anywhere trying to sell me stuff. The guy that sold Sam some necklaces then took some photos for us and it turned out to be quite nice.
5:30PM We then took a bus back to the hostel. That was quite an adventure. We were packed like sardines... It was also hard to exit the bus because the entrance is in the back and you have squeeze through tons of people to exit through the front. We finally got off on a later stop than we were suppose to.
6:00PM I needed a long shower after the beach and sun. After my shower I spoke to Fabiana and another lady that worked at the hostel. Her name was Vero. She recently moved to Brazil from Argentina. She helped me return my charger adaptor that didn't work and also exchange one for a britto iPhone case. The universal charger was only $R 15! I'll need that for Manaús for sure.
7:30PM I got back to my welcome Caipirinha drink at the hostel. It tasted very sweet.
I skyped with my brother, Christine and my grandma. She was at St. Joseph's hospital because she broke her femur. I didn't know she had osteoporosis and she wasn't taking her medicine.
8:30PM Rainy night, but we decided to go to Beiju Moça where we got the tapioca from the other day. Gina and Lou were there. We ordered two tapiocas and some cafe. Lou showed us a video of "arrocha" dancing. It was very sensual. It's a popular dance in Bahia.
We spent the rest of the night listening to NSYNC and Christina Aguilera with the Hostel Staff. I love them.
